Brexit LIVE: ‘That’s us screwed’ Spain blasted as British expats hit with driving ban

From Sunday May 1, UK nationals who have lived in the EU country for more than six months will no longer be able to use their DVLA-issued licences and will need to obtain a Spanish licence to drive. The change will not affect holidaymakers visiting the country, who can still use their UK driving licence. Writing on the Facebook group, Brits in Spain, expat Ward Priestman said: “That’s us screwed, due to the pandemic our TIEs [Spanish Foreigner Identity Card] were delayed and we didn’t get them until the April after the deadline. I have no idea what we are going to do, we live up in the mountains in the middle of nowhere. Why on earth is this so hard?”
